  • Window Treatments

Ok ladies, I need some help!

As I think you know we got all new windows last month, all of the window treatments in the other rooms stayed the same or got switched around because the windows are the same sizes but we didn't have to buy anything.

Here is the window I'm having issues with:

The middle window doesn't open, the outer windows slide toward the middle when they do open. Privacy really isn't an issue as the closest house behind us is a good 50 yards. I suppose if you were standing naked right inside the window they'd be able to see you but that is about it. It used to have full blinds on it and we really only closed them when we were gone for long periods of time.

You can't really see the overhead valance in this picture but I recovered the ones that were there when we moved in, they're red blue green and cream so I'm trying to decide if we just put up curtains or a big blind or nothing.

    Ideas?

    Re: Window Treatments

I hate window treatments- that's my disclaimer. That's just b/c we have a bay window that is literally impossible to cover.

I would get a long track and some sheers that you can easily pull to the sides but still be able to cover the windows for trips, extra privacy, etc.

It's so nice to have new windows!

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

      Re: Window Treatments

My first thought was wood blinds! But since they open side to side, I'd vote for something like this:

      Hunter Douglas Luminette

They kinda look like vertical blinds with sheer material connecting the slats....it's a crude description for something that looks much better in person...at least that's what I think. The slats aren't hard plastic-like, they are more structured fabric.

Smith and Noble has some great ideas. We had two huge sliding doors and I HATE vertical blinds- they have these panels that you can slide away and you can get them in like 100 different fabrics and styles.

And my dad would be terribly disappointed if I didn't suggest shutters. You can do it as three pieces, but four might look nice as well.

Peggy: I'm sure my dad could design some shutters for the bay window if you want.

Hey - Michele - if your dad wants to give an iMSN discount (bargain basement discount), let me know. Window treatments are the bane of my existence. We still have the hated blinds on my 5 windows in the LR.

I HATE (!!!!!!!!) the blinds in our bedroom but can't take them down until I get a replacement.

My vote is for nothing. Overall, I don't really like window treatments all that much, and especially not for such a big beautiful window like that when you don't even need the privacy! Maybe paint the molding a bright white and be done!

Thanks ladies - we're not sure that we need anything either that is what we're trying to figure out. This weekend's project is a closet organizing system since DH and I will have to share for once (he's been using the closet in the nursery).

                      Thanks again!

                        Re: Window Treatments

My parents house has similar windows and have always left them with no coverings. Sometimes, unless you need the privacy (which you don't seem to), coverings can detract from the windows view and beauty.
