Painting project pictures a.k.a. TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS!!!!!

I hate the dark blue trim. I have torn up my house, I gave away a bunch of furniture yesterday on freecycle (thank you whoever posted that website) and moved other furniture into other rooms!!!!!

I just spent an hour trying to get the color and post it here but can't seem to do it. The walls will be "sandstone cove" a light grey in Behr paints and the trim will be white.

Primer my dear!!! Of course, that is why I'm sitting here at the computer and looking at the paint bucket.

um it's probably to late, but the new Behr exterior paint that has primer is it is the best stuff on the market right now!!! We have covered our dark wood trim previously with Kilz and 4 coats of white Well I got the Behr for our cabinets in a light green and holly molly in 2 coats it was covered! We got a white for the rest of the trim and doors, I mean it cut our time in half for the cabinets! Apparently other neighbors of mine have had professional painters use primer and exterior paint on this dark trim, maybe the exterior paint is thicker??? Anyway so far so good! And GL can't wait to see more. I'll post mine in a few weeks!!!

Sounds like a great project for someone who is done studying!

Good luck and I can't wait to see the after photos. Thank goodness for primer, huh?

How durable is this paint for cabinets? Can it withstand the roughness? Will it chip? I'm very curious!

RETURN , RETURN, RETURN, RETURN, RETURN, RRREEEEETTTTTTUUUUURRRNNN!

Holly Molly DH just used the white on the trim last night and cry me a river of tears it covered as well as 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of white paint. In two coats with this paint it will be done, unbelievable. I am crying over the hours and hours we have lost!!! We've done 3 rooms with 4+ coats of paint over this dark stinkin trim....WWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAA

As for the cabinets, you still have to polly it. Any paint in that has high impact needs polly - no matter what kind of paint. I've done my share of refinishing several pieces of furniture, walls, and now cabinets, and unless it's a super rough surface and doesn't get much impact, it needs to have polly seal it in, or you will have scratches and chipped paint in no time. But polly is quick and pretty forgiveable so it didn't take me long to do. We are 90% done with the paint, and the floors go in this weekend!!! :rah:

I have to ask, do you take all the doors off when you paint the cabinets or do you keep them on? I've taken them off in the past and it's a PITA. I've seen Candice Olsen's team on Divine Design paint the cabinets with the doors on.

Yep, and cleaned them, sanded them, filled in nicks, ... a total PITA... but it's looks awesome - better

So I can go back, get the white trim color that I want in exterior paint, I won't have to use primer? Is it Latex or oil based? I'm getting excited here!!!!!!!

                          Ok here it is:

                          http://www.behr.com/behrx/products/prod ... ts&catId=7

comes in flat, satin enamel and semi-gloss

                          We used the semi-gloss:

                          http://www.behr.com/behrx/act/view/prod ... 50&catId=7

You can get it mixed any color you want, and it's water based. It costs a little more, $26 a gallon, but a steal for one product and oohhhh the time saved!!!
