Ug. I'm looking for something specific and need some new resources.

I'm looking for a "console table" to put in the small hall between the foyer and the great room. It can be long (up to 55") but I want it on the taller side (at least 32 " high). The kicker is I want something not too deep. Ideally it would be 16" or less so it doesn't completely shrink that space. Most things I like are 18" deep and I'm wondering if that is TOO much table. I like traditional clean lines and medium to dark stains but right now I just need some new choices!

I've looked at all my usual haunts and have found stuff that would be "okay." I'm not paying 1000 dollars for a console table unless it's "to die for!"

    Here's where I have looked:
    Pottery Barn
    Thomasville
    Crate and Barrel
    Restoration Hardware
    Liz Home
    Stanley Home Furniture
    Frontgate
    Ballard Designs

Can you give me websites of furniture places you love please? I need some new choices!

    Thanks!
    Flynn

Check w/ sources like Apartment Zero (they're in DC) and other retailers that specialize in apartment/condo furnishings. They're stuff is often smaller depths.

I'm looking for something similar for an alcove in our bedroom. I think we are going to do a dresser instead of a table. It is 20" deep. It's hard to find anything less than 18" (at least it has been for me).

Anyway...have you looked at Room and Board? They have a some nice consoles. I saw another that is 14" deep but only 29" high.
          This one is 16":

Also, http://www.stanleyfurniture.com. Nevermind -- that is on your list!

It is hard to find, isn't it?

Yup, Room and Board was what I was going to suggest.

            What about Ethan Allen?

I have to check Room and Board again....I haven't in a while and I know they get new stuff periodically.

I JUST checked Ethan Allen (online only -- no store here ) and didn't find anything but GREAT suggestion.

I need to check DCJenn's suggestion! I haven't gotten to that one yet!

Bombay Company is closing all their stores, not sure when but it was in the paper here a few weeks ago.

My new "idea" for this problem is when we get our builders to do the office with custom stuff -- give them a picture of a table I like, shave a few inches off the depth and presto! My perfect table! We'll see. I really like the Cantabury (sp) console table...

...maybe in "the cities" they do but not in shopping hell.

My parents got a table from Miller Pollard made and it's AWESOME. Love it. But $$$$$$ -- yeah I'm not paying that much for a hallway/foyer table!

Where did my post go? I'm starting to get suspicious.

My mom was just telling me about Arhaus and suggested looking there. No stores on the west coast, though. There is a new(er) one in Denver and a friend of hers, who falls on the picky end of the spectrum, found some things she really liked there.

I think the builder idea is a good one too. You will get exactly what you are looking for. I think you can do that through Room and Board on some lines but I'm sure it would cost more.

Here's my favorite on that site. I now have it "measured" out on the floor with blue paint tape.

If it were only 15" deep it would be perfect!

That's pretty Flynn and would go fabulously with your colors and hardwood.
