Has anyone seen or tried one of these?

I would really like to get one for those long winter months. Reviews on amazon.com are mostly positive.

    Re: Aerogarden

I have 2, one is being prepped for a new planting and this one I planted 3 weeks ago. It's all lettuces. I love them, they are awesome and easy!

DH is skeptical about these...I'd want one for lettuce and one for herbs and cherry tomatoes I am house-plant killer, so how easy is it?

You just pop the pods in, fill with water, pop in the grow tablets and let it grow. You just add water when low and ever couple weeks for nutrients (light on front will tell you when). I have the ultimate brown thumb. This is no fail, no pesticides, no bugs, no soil!

          Cool!
I have no counter space and no garden. Just some basil growing on a window sill.
Is this thing big? Does it take up a lot of space? What about energy? I mean, do you have to keep that light on at all times?

You can put it anywhere. The grow lights cycle on and off all by themselves. There are only 2 bulbs and I have not seen any increase in electric bill due to it. Its only 16" wide, 12" deep and up to 24" high depending on the height of adjustable light arm.
