  • Furniture purchases!

I originally piggy-backed this on Jenn P's furniture post, but decided to give it a thread of it's own. This also answers the whatcha been up too thread!

So our mostly empty living room is finally getting a boost! We have really liked Horchow since training days, but could not really afford it! Now that we can, we waited and lucked out on one of their rare sales, and took the plunge!
The furniture will begin arriving @ the end of July so, DH & I must decided on what to do for the floors: new carpet, tile, or hard woods.
We also need to hire a painter since the living room has a 2 story ceiling I wish the original owners had chosen to do the loft option!
My MIL will arrive later this year and I'll have her help me w/ window treatments.

We have ordered seating for the formal living room:

We also ordered an office suite for Dh. The office is too small for all of the pieces, so we'll use the bookcase at the top of the stairs, and use the file cabinet elsewhere.

So after 3&1/2 years we finally have a kitchen table & chairs( JCP), as well as the matching side board! We use to eat in the formal diningroom or would use a card table and chairs in kitchen .
We had a small table & 2 chairs from fellowship days, the chairs bit the dust, and the table now holds Dh's large flatscreen in a corner of our bedroom. Anyway...I got a mega deal , which makes me feel better since they are for the kitchen and will take a beating(4 kids). My(drool over) reproduction Windsor bench & chairs, can wait until we get the "Big House" and the kids are older!

You'll need tp click on this to see the table & chairs
We purchased 8 chairs(2 are arm chairs).

This is the matching sideboard that I also bought.

I also picked up this bench & mirror for the entry way(JCP)

Suz, those pieces look great! You'll take to post pictures when you have everything in place. I want to see your new landscaping, too.

                  Re: Furniture purchases!

So the talk about TV being a focal point in the living room, reminded me that I missed posting a photo of our solution for this dilema.
To me a living room is like a formal parlor/sitting room for visiting/conversing w/guests, therefore I was against the whole idea of a TV going in there! I told DH family rooms/ great rooms and dens are more for TV watching. We compromised and we purchased this (I just forgot to post it up above):

I obviously will preferr it to stay closed, but if he and some of his friends are over and they want to watch a game they can.
