  • cleaning mircoseude couch - warning a bit nasty

Ok so DS projectile vomited all over the couch this afternoon. So I steam cleaned it and sprayed with Folex. Then for good measure afterwards sprinkled it with baking soda to help absorb any smells. I think vacuumed that off, and ... it still has a slight smell - ugh. I googled vomit and microseude and got a lot about spot cleaning, but not this itself. I found one lady who said she used lemon oil to clean it with... but saw only on entry for that and am in love with my matching modern had to wait 8 years of marriage to recieve couches to try something that isn't back by "this won't kill it" warranty.

So... what do I do now, steam clean it again??? Another person said they used vinegar to clean on it too (which I use for most of my kitchen cleaning anyway)... HELP! :anyolne:

eta: also a pillow got soaked. It came with the couch, no zip cover, and needs to be made minty fresh. Can I wash this and then air dry? We use them to much to just steam clean IMO... argh argh argh!!!

I would worry that lemon oil would leave a stain. I would try vinegar, probably several times, then hit it with febreeze every day for a while.

I have no idea, but I would try everything on the pillow first if it is made of the same fabric. Much easier to replace a pillow that a sofa. If not, go to a fabric store and buy a piece of the same type of fabric and practice on it.

I agree with the vinegar suggestion. Maybe mist diluted vinegar over it every few days?

Oh, I just remembered! I used some pet stain remover on a couch that Anna peed on (repeatedly, long story ). That worked really well to remove odors. The couch wasn't microsuede but was some sort of fabric (seemed like a thick cotton).

Nellie's idea is a good one. The "pet stain" group of cleaners really have the best results on bad smells.

Ok trying both today! I'll come back with results, hopefully happy ones.

SUCESS!!! The Arm and Hammer Pet Oder Eliminator Spray did it, the vinegar did not, so THANKS, my sanity and pocket thanks you!!!
