What a PITA. No idea. That sucks. Good luck, and I hope it gets resolved quickly and peacefully.

Re: If a tree falls. . .
Geez, that stinks. I thought that if it is your tree, you clean it up even when it falls on someone else's property. A friend of mine had a tree fall from her front yard and across the street. I could ask her how that worked out. They were out of town and I can't remember if the city removed the part that was in the street because it obstructed traffic.
Now I'm remembering someone else who had a tree fall into the neighbor's yard. They cleaned it up and I think even repaired the fence that was damaged by their tree.
Maybe call a tree trimming service or arborist? Too bad the insurance agent couldn't have been a little more helpful. I'm sure someone at the insurance company has an opinion about who should pay for tree-related damage.

Re: If a tree falls. . .
Hm, legal is free, but you have a huge deductible to actually get the tree removed and cleaned? Tricky. See what talking to the neighbors does, then call an atty if nobidy is willing to help? Maybe one of the other neighbors has a lower deductible?

In NJ it depends on where the damage is done. It doesn't matter who owns the offending tree! Damage to my property is my responsibility, your property, your responsibility, no matter where the tree originates.Luanne
