My favorite paints are Benjamin Moore and Devine because they both come in a washable matte finish. Both have held up well.

Jenn, we used Bluebelle in DS's room, too. I love that color!

For those who have a hard time painting with 3M Blue Painter's tape, we found an AWESOME brand- we had no bleeding through, and nice crisp clean lines: FROG TAPE.

We had the Frog Tape pull up some paint. It was recently applied though -- otherwise no problems. It is amazing stuff with NO bleeding through the tape.

To add to Makai's comment about the washable matte paint -- the Aura paint, matte or flat finish, can be used in bathrooms. I much prefer a flat finish and so far, so good using it in a bathroom.

Hey, thanks!!! I will see if I can find some of that. I am looking to paint my dd's room a week from this Saturday. If it turns out half-way decent, I will post some before and after pics.

I'm planning on 1) deciding on colors and 2) patching and 3) painting while the dude is at my parents for a week.

the first step is the hardest....

I have splotches of paint all over every room in my house.

Ok- this is what I'm thinking now:

(from Benjamin Moore)

Mexicana on the walls of the Living Room and Dining Room
Vanilla Milkshake on the trim and doors (the ones that aren't already stained wood)
Terrapin Green on the walls of the office
Mexican Tile on the ceilings.

Still need a color for the hallway- may go with a basic cream/tan- maybe a few colors lighter than the Mexican Tile.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Manchester Tan is a nice basic tan. I have that in my entry, stairway and upstairs hall.

I think I need to just buy the Benjamin Moore color swatches. The colors on the computer just aren't the same. I'll still go look those up.

I'm a big fan of Benjamin Moore and Devine as well.

Our whole house has these two brands through out -- and we have 17 colors total.

Ok- the results of the test splotches-

Mexicana is gorgeous- kind of a cinnamon red and it looks great. Terrapin green is also very pretty. It's dark but I think it will look good in the office.

however, Mexican tile looks like a really bad make-up base color. It's way too fleshy. Ewwww.

Back to the drawing board for the ceiling. I'm going to have to just stand at the paint store until the right color jumps out at me.

I want to report back that the Frog Tape was soo worth it! It is way better than the 3M blue tape. I was surprised at how much better it worked. Thanks for the tip.

We just painted our kitchen Summer Lily by Glidden.

It took two coats with no primer. And it cost $20 for a gallon.

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned Sherwin-Williams. There are a lot of stores down here. How does their paint stand up to BM?
