  • hardwood floors recs

Has anyone used Stanley Steemer for hardwood refinishing? We want to strip the carpet in our living room/dining room and refinish the floors. Any concerns? They claim that the machine they use for sanding the floors is virtually dust-free and the stain contains low VOCs.

Is this something we should attempt while the kids are home?

We used a "swedish finish" on our floors. That is definitely not low VOC or low on the noxious fumes. Are they using a water-based product (rather than oil)? I'm not sure about the Stanley stuff but I would make plans to be out of the house when they put the finish down and then be pleasantly surprised if you can stay.
