Ahh, OK. I think that clears it up, glad I'm not the only one questioning this trend when I've got little ones in the house.

Chris, we're going to Whidbey Island, just north of Seattle.

There are many houses here with first floor masters. In addition to wanting to be where the kids are, we couldn't do it with DH's schedule. There are so many days that he's home sleeping and I"m here (or worse, have a house full of kids). He can just go and seclude himself upstairs.

We're looking at places with an isolated guest room or, better yet, a detached living space for daytime sleeping quarters.

Yes, we are! I think it will become more real for me when I've seen the place with my own eyes (all the times we've been on the Olympic Peninsula or driving between Seattle and Anacortes, but I've never been to Whidbey!) but looking for homes is thrilling so far, LOL.
