  • finding a dress

i want a cute summer type comfy dress that i can just throw on and go. i want to wear *gasp* flip flops.

i cannot find anything i like. i don't like spaghetti straps and well, im just picky!!!

i found one today, at target..but couldnt bring myself to spend $30 on a dress. stupid, maybe...

my mom, master seamstress, is currently cutting out a pattern for me. i picked out a pattern and some fabric.

i hope it looks ok on my body type.

here is the pattern. she is making me the longer one...but with wider straps. my girls cannot be free. i must wear a bra!

the fabric is a pretty pink/red/teal blue/brown/green paisley pattern. the top section is a brown. i'll have to take a picture. the description sounds shitastic.

There is nothing more comfy that a sundress and flip flops. Standard summer gear IMO. I can't wait to see it! Target did have a lot of cute sundresses this year. The long sundresses are everywhere, aren't they?

Oh, what nice dresses! I'm sure something like that will keep you nice and cool in the summer.

How do I move this to the Fashion section?

I love sundresses with flip flops but are you sure this style will be comfortable for your boobs? What would be an acceptable price for a sundress (so I can look some up)?

I'd be interested in anything cheap, especially something with easy access to the girls to accomodate nursing.

God I am looking forward to being a SAHM this summer so I can wear a cute sundress instead of dryclean only clothes!

            Sylvia, what about this style?

            http://www.butterick.com/item/B5212.htm?tab=dresses&page=3

            or this

            http://www.butterick.com/item/B5181....dresses&page=4

            http://www.butterick.com/item/B4443....dresses&page=6

They are a bit more structured, but would provide coverage for the girls.

              That dress sounds really cute.

I also saw some cute short ones at Walmart for around $12 but I don't think they would work for you being that they are spaghetti straps....

                *le sigh*

the dress i found at target the other day was a faux wrap. it did look good...for me anyway. it was $30. i just can't see spending $30 on something that will get spit up on, chocolate hand prints, cat hair, dog hair, dirt...whatever my kids, cats or dogs throw at me.

                i guess $20 is unrealistic?

let me know what you find!

kris, thanks for the links. i'm not a seamstress..at.all. i picked the pattern i did, because it's an "easy" one. my mom thinks i can do it..if i like the outcome. i see the ones you posted are also the "easy" kind. i will have to see. thanks for taking the time to look them up.

My motivation for looking them up was selfish - I need a good couple of summer everyday dresses too. I figure if I make them from cotton then who cares what I get on them.

This could potentially work. Don't know if your girls will fit on top though.
