a refrigerator/freezer what day, time, season would you pick to die? Yes, that's right- 4:30 on a Friday afternoon in June in South Texas.
Thank God for my neighbor Curtis who directed me to the ice plant a block away (yes, downtown living has it's advantages!) and I bought 5 blocks of dry ice and 4 bags of regular ice five minutes after they closed. I think the guys were afraid of the crazy lady with the sticking up hair (just got in from the pool when I made my fab discovery).
Per the directions of the Ice Man, I put two blocks of dry ice directly in the freezer and shut the door. He said the dry ice will work it's magic, no problem. For the stuff to keep cold but not frozen, he said to put the blocks in the bottom of a cooler and cover w/ regular and and not to open and close it too much.
I found a repair guy .5 mile away from me (gotta love Angie's List- it's soooooo worth the $19/yr. if you're a homeowner) and he's coming at 9am.
and yes, my husband IS gone. Of course.
