  • Attack of the Housplant GNATS!!! GAHHHH!

I re-potted 4 houseplants w/miracle grow potting soil, only to discover that said soil was infested w/fungus gnat larvae! So do you think I could microwave some potting soil and kill larvae that way? If I had a chest freezer I'd put a bag in there for a week or so to try and kill them that way.
I NEED re-pot again...they are everywhere! I put a sticky strip above the 3 worst offenders and it was loaded w/in 3 days. I will more than likely chuck one & try to salvage the other 3!

So, have you ever had this problem and did you figure out an easy way to get rid of them?

I agree that the heat would kill them. I wonder how that would microwave? If it is damp, the steam heat would help.
