Sounds like a nest nearby, or in your structure.
Aerosol poison can be bad around pets -- I recommend getting yourself a really sweet swatting device (home depot, lowe's, etc??)
In the meantime, can you call pest control to come check out your structure?Wife to Family Medicine attending, Mom to DS1 and DS2

I just had two underground wasp nests removed, by an exterminator. They can have really huge uinderground nests. Ours were both approx.

OH MY!!!! Well they are only in the front room, upstairs. And they are always trying to get up the ceiling near the fireplace. They are in no other part of the house, so I a thinking it is not the vents. We did notice some gaps between the fireplace and wall, so we are going to have them sealed up. I am only deathly allergic to them. So I will be sleeping with my epi-pen.

WEAR SHOES!!! At all times, until this is resolved, wear shoes.
Christmas time (in Chicago) when my brother was 2...wearing little 2yo footie pjs...comes into the kitchen crying about his foot and "bee". Parents didn't believe him (bee, inside, in December...) Finally, they said "show me"...sure enough - wasp on the ground behind the drapes
Don't mean to freak you out - but if you're that allergic, wear shoes
