I love my HE top loader, so much that we got a second one for the basement. We got both of them at the Sears appliance outlet, and we bought a service plan, which we have taken advantage of twice with the older machine.

I love my frontloader! LOVE. I pack it full and don't ever have to extract stretched out undies from the agitator. We also nixed the bases. Reaching down is no worse than using the front loading dryers. What we did was put a countertop over the washer/dryer with cabinets adjacent to and on the wall above.

I have to plug my love for my front loader as well. We've had our's for almost 6 years and no problems knock on wood. When we bought our's there wasn't another option that could handle quilts and comforters. After having a puke fest with 2 kids (during residency), and spending an entire day at the laundromat washing 3 sets of comforters and pillows, I told dh we were getting a front loader. Skip forward a year, and we had another puke fest in the middle of night, dh was grateful he went with the front loader. I have been told that the bases are actually bad for the machine, as the machine is up on a hollow box that allows for more vibration, and thus allows the machine to wear out 3 times as fast. Also having a 2nd floor laundry room allows for washers to wear out faster because of the extra vibration.

Sorry to hear that your's broke down. I hope it gets fixed soon.

I love my front loader as well. I also don't have the base because I have cabinets over them and there wouldn't be a whole lot of space left. I've never had the clothes twisting problem- that sounds horrible. Let us know what happens.

I am with you, Tara. I have a front-loading washer. I LOATHE IT. I will never get another one again. It does not empty as well, I have residual dirt that builds up.

What brand is it? I had trouble with my Whirlpool HE and Amy had trouble with her Whirlpool HE Frontloader. There was not an official recall, but there should have been. If it is Whirlpool, check your model number and call them. They are covering the repair (almost $800), but not advertising it. Mine was 3 years old and they covered al of the repairs, and now it works like a charm. I googled my make and model number and found tons of blogs!!

We have the cheap version of course. I can't justify the expense of a front loader or snything. If there ever is a time I think I'd prefer the top loader style wo the agitator. But I really don't like the idea of buying special detergent.

I'm super cheap. There are do many things I'd rather spend money on than appliances...

And my neighbor has had nothing but trouble w her kenmore front loader. Idk.

I have the LG Tromm and haven't had any problems other than the twisted clothes.

I have the Samsung VRT set, and I love it. They are super quiet and gentle on my clothes. Nothing gets twisted except fitted sheets, and I have never owned a dryer that doesn't twist fitted sheets. It holds more than any other set of machines I have ever had. I do have them up on pedestals. I haven't had any problems yet. The machines are only a month old though, but I really, really like them so far.

I love my front loader .... It has a larger capacity than my old top loader and my clothes seem to get so much cleaner. I have never had the twisting problem before .... :/ what a bummer. I'm sorry your front loader is such a disappointment!
