  • my pomeranian and chiuhaha have FLEAS! HELP!

so my pups both have fleas.. were clean freaks in my house and I have been vacuuming and bathing them and used frontline... I don't seem to have an infestation at the house but I don't know how long it take for them to be cured?

does anyone have suggestions? this has never happened before....i'm desperate!PLEASE

It's flea season! Double check with your vet, but Advantage and Frontline are both extremely effective against fleas. You can even buy them at regular stores now. I really don't recommend Hartz or other similar off-brands. They don't work nearly as well and they have more reports of side effects.

There are oral medications you can get from your vet that work great as well without the "grease spot." You may need to make an appointment and some vets recommend bloodwork prior. You'll just have to call.

Fleas don't mean you are dirty. It's just that time of year!

When we would get fleas, advantage would take care of them on the cats within a day or two. And I don't think you want to bathe them within a day or two of using the frontline, because you'll wash the stuff off (should say on the instructions). If the dogs go outside, it doesn't matter how clean your house is, or how clean the dogs are, they're GOING to get fleas. Don't worry too much about it; they'll be fine.

I use advantage for my pommy. Not sure why, but even frontline doesn't work for her. And it's a PITA to pick them off her once I see them bc she has so much dang fur! Good news is advantage gets rid of the fleas quickly for her. Good luck!
