okay, so this has been bothering me for a while, I haven't come up with a good solution yet.
What do you guys do with dish towels, wash clothes, etc... from the kithen after you use them? Do you have like a little hamper in the kitchen? Or do normal people do kitchen laundry every day? I'm so confused. Right now I just put them in a grocery bag under the counter until kitchen laundry time, but I feel like there should be a better system.

I'm gonna gross you out but we don't wash our kitchen towels daily...sometimes not even weekly. I wash our bath towels more often but I also don't use the dish towels for cleaning the counters. They are used for hand wiping and need to be pretty heinous for me to make the effort...now I will go and sulk away to clean some dish rags..

I'm right there with Tenacious_D. I use disinfecting wipes and paper towels for cleaning around the kitchen. The towels are for wiping my hands after washing them and for drying things I've washed by hand.

I have about 15 washcloths that I use as hand towels in the kitchen. I use two or three every day, grabbing a new one whenever I feel like I need a clean one. I only use them for hand towels or to dry dishes. We also use cloth napkins. I wash everything every few days depending on my schedule. I also wash the tablecloth. I'm liberal with the napkins and washcloths so I have a full load to wash pretty often. I store the dirty ones under the drain rack. (it's the simple human drain board that has legs). I used to have a mini trash can that I kept the dirty linens before washing. Not sure where it ended up during the move....

I use a sponge to wipe down the counters and I throw that out every other week.

I use a sponge or dish rags on dishes. I use a new rag each day, and hang the old ones over the hamper in the laundry room. I microwave our sponge at least once a week to kill germs. I only change the dish towels every two or three days. I only do laundry once or twice a week and I like to wash the dish rags and towels together in hot water. I can't imagine washing kitchen stuff everyday!

We have a dobie pad that I toss in the dishwasher as needed. Counters/table get cleaned with paper towels. Our dish towels are mostly used to grab hot things from the microwave and to add a splash of color to the oven door

I keep a bucket in the laundry room & throw them in there when they are dirty. I wash kitchen towels, dish cloths& napkins once a week by themselves. I stopped using soonges regularly& switched to clorox wipes. I used to saturate the sponges w/h2o & antibacterial soap before microwaving them.

Mine usually go right in the washer and I clean them in the next load of household laundry. I wash at least one load of laundry daily.

lol! I don't wash mine daily either. I mostly worry about the wash cloths that I use for wiping off the cutting board and things like that. I just never know where to keep them so they don't get even grosser between washing.
The hand towels I don't wash as often and they don't seem as gross because they never get completely saturated with water. I like the idea of using a sponge and just throwing it away every so often. I am so afraid of spreading around bacteria. I wish I could just blast the kitchen with a bleach and steam shower every night.

I use towels & wash cloths. When dirty I hang them somewhere to dry then wash them with the rest of the laundry. I also use a sponge that I change out every other week My towels were actually traditional cloth diapers that you fold & the wash cloths were cloth baby wipes. They last forever & work great!

I'm starting to think that my fear of washing wash cloths with clothes is ridonkulous.

I am so grossed out by sponges or washcloths for cleaning dishes, so I just use a paper towel unless I have a *lot* of dishes, then I use one for that one washing and immediately put it in the washroom. I change out the hand towels every couple of days or if they get really wet.

I keep hand towels and the few used wash rags on the dryer until I run a load of towels. I wring them out really well, so they air dry pretty quickly and don't smell in between loads of laundry. I like the idea of a bucket or something, since my dryer always looks messy.

I always keep kitchen linens separate when doing laundry.

We do something similar: I have a small bucket in the laundry room. If it gets too gross, it goes in there. I have cheapo washcloths from Costco that we use in the kitchen for clean up, and then handtowels for drying dishes and hands. I do a "kitchen load" every once in a while.
We do occasionally purchase paper towels, but they are more for "emergency use only."
