  • Homemade gifts for men

We are trying to cut corners for Christmas. I am making my kids and my two nieces gifts, we'll get my one nephew a gift card so that only leaves DH's family. I'll probably make MIL and BIL's GF scarves but I need ideas for BIL and FIL. Something I could make would be great...

As I'm typing this I just thought of an idea for BIL and GF so maybe just something for FIL.

    Help!

Food? Our gifts this year are going to be almost all canned goods - applesauce, tomato sauce, pickles, etc. You could do jams or salsas too.

I'm going to make place mats for my sisters family. There are five of them and I can't possibly make something personal for each one so these will be personalized and something functional they can all use. Last year I made my sisters family a tote bag and it really became my sisters tote bag. That's not a big deal, however I would rather everyone feel like they got something. I'll probably also throw in some homemade cookies too - ginger (since my niece doesn't like chocolate) and monster cookies.

I know my mom wants a table cloth but I'm at a loss for what to make for my dad. Cheri- what are you making the scarfs out of? It is freezing there in the winter so maybe I could do that for him.

I have made these before with a solid color fleece, http://www.crafts-for-all-seasons.co...ece-scarf.html or I recently saw this one that I might try http://www.marthastewart.com/272433/...=no+knit+scarf

I second food. Or maybe you could try to make some infused vodka or do a bloody Mary mix or something?

I usually make everyone in DHs family cookies and wrap them up in a nice box. I figure none of them really need any more things and cookies are nummmmy

Oh homemade gifts are NOT the norm in this family so even the scarves will be a reach. I don't think cookies/food will go over well. Although...MIL is gluten free so FIL might LOVE some REAL cookies...Hmm, that is an interesting thought...

As cheesy as it sounds, I made my dad a tie one year. Surprisingly not that difficult and it was nice to be able to pick the fabric that I thought would look great with some of his suits. My sister even requested one for her alternative outfits
