  • Wood floors=done

Well, almost anyway. I have spent the last couple weeks tearing apart my house cleaning and putting 3 fresh coats of poly on all my wood floors. The floor guy our builder sub-c'd with put a semi-gloss (looked more like satin) finish on the floors and we felt pretty meh about it. We felt a lot more strongly about just moving in finally than having him redo it.

So. 2.5 years later, I've done it. YAY!!! They look so much better. They're shiny and smooth, and the color looks so much richer. Plus all the scratches the kids put in it are now gone.

I feel like I've been locked up in a prison and now I'm free!!! Now on to Thanksgiving.

You may have inspired me! What did you use on the floors?

I used Varathane water-based gloss. I chose that brand so I didn't have to fart around with mineral spirits (soap and water clean-up). I think it's low VOC too. Pics forthcoming if I can figure out how to post!

Excellent. I'd have to totally refinish my floors first though- otherwise I'd be all over it. Sounds very pretty.

J, you need to see my post in the rant thread. It didn't end well.
