  • Wall Color

If you were going to get this bed set for this bed, what color would you paint your room which has dark hardwood floors and white trim?

And the bed is a darker oak finish.

The bed is ordered but we're trying to decide on bedding so that we can paint before it gets here - ACK!

Love the wythe blue and storm cloud grey - but honestly - I love all of those colours - and that they're shown with pale trim and dark floors gives you an idea of what it'd look like.

BM also makes a colour called "Revere Pewter" that my gf has in her house dining room (white trim, dark floor, cherry wood furniture) and it's gorgeous.

Probably cream or tan. That is a very pretty bedding set!

It seems counterintuitive, but wait until you have everything together in the room before you select something for the walls. Colors are relative. They are dependent on whatever is around them. The same color in three different rooms with different schemes will all seem to vary.

And don't split hairs over off-whites. While they may seem to be different shades on the brochure, they will ALL look like a generic off-white once on your walls.

I second some sort of gray, though I'm not sure how it will look with the bed's wood

With dark floors, a dark bed, and dark bedding, you are going to want to keep your walls pretty light (off-white, cream, tan, etc), otherwise the room will feel small and maybe a little depressing. I think light walls with your dark bed and bedding would be a pretty contrast.

I'd wait to pick the wall color until after you've picked the bedding. That is a great bed frame and you could go with almost any color scheme for your bedding.

I agree. I honestly see more of a reddish tone bedding rather than the blue (but that's just my opinion and not worth much, lol). I would also stick with a very light colored wall but wait to paint until everything is in the room like diggity said.

Oh yes, we're waiting to pick the paint until we pick bedding. I'm having a really hard time picking bedding. Our new bed is a California King so our choices are already diminished. Almost everything the two of us agree on though is some shade of blue. Right now these are the contenders but finding somewhere to actually see bedding is proving to be much harder then we thought.

PB gets my vote, #2 is the lacoste. For the PB bedding I would paint the walls the tan stripe color...and maybe paint a blue stripe up around the ceiling. Do you have crown moulding in your bedroom?

And we would consider something with some red in it but nothing really floral.

My only issue with the PB one is the comforter and duvet covers options are king/cal king meaning its the same size - I don't want it to be truly to small for the bed...

They're pretty generous with the sizes. (They weren't always) We have a full/queen duvet and actually fits perfectly. I think it would be too big for a full size. Best to measure though and make sure if you go with that. I only buy bedding from pb or pbkids anymore because it lasts through a gajillion washings and still looks good.

It's hard to make the decision, isn't it? I waffle forever.

There are no "california king" comforters/duvets. They're all just King. if you look closely at the ones you picked on the Macy's site, when you go between king and calking, all the comforters and duvets just say "king" on both. They're all the same. The ONLY place king vs calking really matters is in the fitted sheets. cal king is 4" longer and 4" skinnier than a regular king. Not enough to make a big difference in comforter size, which is why they don't make 2 different sizes of king comforters.
