  • Window Curtain Help

We just moved into our rental home and the front of the house has no curtains. The windows are wide, the neighbors are close and I'm at a loss as to what to put up. We are on a budget and need privacy. Give me your ideas!

We have a funky triple window in our bedroom and wanted room darkening shades. We just picked up a veeeeeery long (144") drapery pole. We already have the drapes.

How crafty are you? I see all kind of beautiful window coverings made out of drop cloths on pinterest and decorating blogs. Have also seen utilizing pretty dish towels/cloth napkins and tension rods if you want to just do a half curtain.

BTW - I looooove your house. The windows by the fire place are my favs.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Ahhh, pinterest. Will look there. I do sew & have made some simple curtains in the past. My only issue is that it will take time to make them & our stuff will arrive in a day or two. Maybe I'll purchase for the front & sew for the side windows.

              IKEA panels might work.

              LOVE the details!

Mini blinds from Home Depot or Lowes!!!!! I saw an episode on Rachael Ray using burlap and ribbon for trim and they looked cute.

I've also seen the wal-mart cheap roman shade transformations by glueing a pretty material.

I've been researching bungalow style. I could do inside mount or low profile mount. I would need to sew panels together for the front room curtains since no panels are wide enough. Not sure if I want to do Roman shades or curtains. I could make both but not sure what would be cheaper/faster/easier.

I'd leave the windows next to the fireplace as they are. They're high enough that people would have to be pretty close to look in, no? Beautiful!

Yes. I'm thinking just the front & the side windows in the dining room. Not sure about the wide kinda high one in the dining room. I love the house!

The windows are so great that maybe you could ask the landlord about getting them custom made...?

I'm all about IKEA... but I'm brought to tears every time (by every I mean both times) I've been brave enough to use a sewing machine. My life is also full of those lovely pinterest FAIL projects. In our last apartment I actually bought sale table linens and made a running stitch (by hand to avoid crying) to create a loop pocket for the curtain rod that I picked up on the cheap at IKEA! btw I love the fireplace!!!

Unfortunately there is no IKEA here. I bet I could get some awesome stuff there though. I'm not brave enough to order fabric/curtains online. One of these days I'm going to have to tackle the long ass drive to Dallas & hit up IKEA & TJ's. I've only been away from TJ's for less than I week and I already miss it. So many of our food staples came from there. Sigh.
