Yeah yeah, heard it all before. I don't mind using macs and I've used both macs and PCs since I was a little kid. I just can't justify paying more than twice as much for hardware that is often frankly outdated. My computer is over a year and a half old and if I bought a macbook with similar tech specs today I would still pay around $1,800 for it. I paid $800 18 months ago. They didn't even sell a macbook as good as my laptop at that time. So... yeah. Told you it would turn into a debate!

Eta: plus I took it in this morning and just got a call. It sounds like my overheating problem was solved with good cleaning and some thermal compound!! $35 well spent! And I did fix the bad driver myself, I just couldn't tell at the time... frustrated but so relieved!

I'm just giving you a hard time - its all about priorities. I love my mac and the lack of issues I've had with it are worth the extra cost to me.

Glad you got yours back, being tech-less is painful!

              Preach!
My 1st lappy was 8 years old, running super fast, when my little sister decided to purchase a new one. She was using my oldie from undergrad as her system. Not a thing wrong with it.

              Love me some Mac!

I'm a Mac convert. I always bought a PC, because I couldn't bear the thought of the extra expense. Then, keeping up with anti-virus software and other technical issues just kept piling up. I went Mac, as did my DH, and I can never imagine going back. I have never had a problem. LOVE it.

I've never had problems with pcs before now. I always ran them for years until I decided to upgrade, and I've never needed real repairs before. I also worked in an all-mac office for a while where they were always having issues so I've never really been tempted by them. But my computer died again within about 15 minutes of being home, from the shop (fan works great now though), so we'll see if I'm in the market for a new one soon. Argh.
