I think we need a new dining room table big enough for 8. We usually have 6-8 eating and our table seats 6 comfortably and with 8 we are very squished.
Do you like counter height tables?

We have a regular table, but a couple friends have exchanged theirs because their toddlers fall I think J is old enough, though? I love how they look. Is J big enough to climb up on the chair?

I like our counter height table. Mainly because our counter height dog has a harder time snatching food from it than he does a lower table.
Ooh excellent point. Our dog counter surfs but has to jump up to do so. This is a great point.
And Josie is a pretty stable little climber. We have a counter height little table for homework and crafts (it's little-- 2 seats) and she sits there all the time.
Glad to hear positive feedback! I like how they look.

When Joey gets on his hind legs, we have to hide shit on the 2nd shelf in the top cabinet or inside the microwave with the door completely shut. This fucker his huge.
If you are going to get one I strongly suggest benches for the the sides that can sit up to 3 people, instead of chairs. We have one & 8 chairs. The longer sides are a PITA w/ the chairs. I am currently looking for counter height benches that can seat 3 people.
I'll take the minority vote and state that I hate counter height tables, for toddlers, elderly, and for those of us who vertically challenged. There is nothing like feeling sick or inebriated and having to pole vault up to the kitchen table.
My hang up is that it seems most counter height tables are square in shape. (Family of 7 plus there's always at least 1 add on from the neighborhood for dinner means we always have the extra leaf in). I'm not sure how I feel about a square table. It seems like passing the food would be really hard.
