I need a fridge for our house stat. I spent a lot of time trying to find one to fit the small fridge space and couldn't make a decision. Now since we will be renovating the kitchen in a couple years we decided to scrap the small space, get a regular sized fridge and put it in the eating nook, which will eventually be kitchen and won't be used except for kitchen overflow for now. I want a French door/freezer on bottom fridge. Give me your reccs! If anyone has consumer reports could you list the best ones? Oh, I also don't want a water in door. Ice maker would be okay in freezer. I don't like the door dispenser things. We move in in a week!

We have GE Profile, after they moved their production back to the US. Love it!

We are also looking at the GE Profile for our kitchen remodel - I have a GE Profile microwave now and LOVE it! I think the GE Monogram is the next step up and they both get FABULOUS reviews!

Any particular GE Profile model? There seem to be tons.

I'm pretty sure this is the one we looked at GE Profile PFE29PSD[SS] - its also the most highly rated GE Profile on Consumer Reports. Its not the most highly rated fridge, by any means, but we'd like all of our appliances to be the same brand and DH has found a GE Profile stove he really likes too.

Just FYI the 3 highest (bottom freezer) on CR are the LG LFX28991, Kenmore 7160, and Whirlpool Gold GX5FHTXV.

            Happy shopping!

Thanks SS! I'm seriously considering the whirlpool gold. I'll check out the other two on the list as well.

The manager at our local Sears fulfillment center said he'd personally go with a Samsung or LG.

After having a rebadged LG (it was a Kenmore), I would never, never, never buy an LG fridge. We finally got Sears to replace ours with a Whirlpool Gold after over 20 service calls. The repairmen told us this is common with LG, and there is a lawsuit regarding the lengths they went to in order to gain energy star rating. They basically tried to defeat the test, rather than decide to make a fridge that is energy efficient.

Our rental has an LG (not sure how old it is). I hate it, it's terrible. I'd never buy one.

I got no experience with either. Our house came with a Sub-Zero that I'm not crazy about.

I talked to our service guy the other day, and he said he would go with Sub-Zero or the high-end GE (as far as high-end goes). He did add that he only has experience with the ones they service. Vishenka - I remember when you had service issues a few years ago - are you guys still having issues?

We have an almost 15 year old GE Profile Performance. It has been serviced exactly ONE time in all the years we had it. It even handled the move with less than gentle movers. We are keeping it until it dies because I don't see anything nearly as reliable on the current market.

Same here. It is a built-in sub-zero. I truly do not get what the big hairy deal is about sub-zeros. The interior layout is outdated (no milk gallon capacity in the door, for starters) and limited ability to customize the shelving positions. And it is stainless steel. YAY! Something to clean nine thousand times a week to get off the fingerprints. If I got to re-hab my kitchen and start over, I'd never get this fridge.
