The boys were roughhousing again and they knocked over my loveseat. The top of the loveseat bumped against something and now there is a 3-4" vertical tear across the top-center of the loveseat. It's upholstered in a tapestry/satin fabric (alternating pattern of stripes that are solid black and cream with embroidered flowers). I had extra fabric but it was ruined when the basement flooded. I don't sew or upholster. What do I do? (Aside from locking the boys in their room for all eternity. I really didn't think I'd have this level of destructiveness until their teens.)

You could contact an upholsterer and ask them to come out and repair it. For small tears it can be done in your house...~Mom of 5, married to an ID doc

OOOh, that could be worth a try! When the cusions are on the sofa, the tear is pretty much covered. There will always be a scar there but I'm not ready to part with the loveseat and it's too small to be slip-covered.
As an aside, I was on the phone with my mom when this happened. When I was a kid, she would have absolutely killed us if we did something like that. Basically, 70+ lbs of little boys wrestling on the loveseat knocked it over. I was pissed but it's just a thing. I was mostly relieved that the boys weren't hurt. But I really do need to get this rough housing under control before they get much bigger.Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.
