    OK, now I'm very confused. I just had to do some searching, and discovered that my whole childhood is a lie. OK, that's maybe an exaggeration. We had lots of pillbugs (rolypoly bugs) around...and we always called them potato bugs! Now I guess I know better and will have to retrain myself to not call them that. Pillbugs are much cuter than potato bugs, for sure.

      Oh no, potato bugs are the big nasties. Pillbugs (I called them sowbugs or rolly-polys) are harmless. You're making me homesick for the coast!

      ETA: I think sowbugs are the ones that are flatter and don't roll up.

        We came across a dead potato bug on one of dds field trips. Huge!!! It was dead so everyone was picking it up. Not me!! And we call the little guys roly polies. Dd4 has a roly poly game on her leappad-- she loves those guys.
