First, I need opinions on my mantle - to busy? out of balance?

I'm trying to get some basics done before my FSIL's shower this weekend...

This is our new family organization wall - what should I add above the middle calendar? I was thinking a chalkboard or a sign but if its a sign what should it say? Any cute sayings? Because of the air vent it can't be very big...

I'm also thinking about adding a removeable hook below each bulletin board for the kids - we don't currently have a mud room or somewhere easy for them to put their backpacks but when we redo the kitchen we'll have a mud room/area by the back door.

I think the picture is a little too big for that fireplace, but the items on it are pretty

The picture isn't going anywhere. It might look that way in the photo but in the room (which is huge) it looks the right size. I'm more talking about the accent pieces.

I like the mantle. I'd move the flowers just a smidge toward the center so they're kind of on front of the edge of the picture.

And I think the organization area is only in need of a bench, but it makes sense if you don't want to buy one for that space if your permanent mudroom will be elsewhere.

I put command hooks above mine (little ones. Every week, I hole punch a piece of art or work for each kid, and stick it up there. I throw away what was there the previous week. My kids love it and it is easy and cute.

I am thinking about putting command hooks below for backpacks, I didn't think about above. That would work because they couldn't reach them and rip them off.

I took 2 eye hooks and screwed them into the wall and strung picture wire between them. The artwork hangs from that in the hallway with clothes pins.

Hooks for backpacks/ lunchboxes and maybe coats if you don't have a mud room.

                A clock?
                Key hook?

Definitely need something up top. I like the idea of a wire to clip artwork on. Hobby lobby has little decorative clothes pins tt might work.
