We bought some in kinder and expand the selection every year. The ones from kinder are still going strong. They can go in the dishwasher and the the washing machine too. I got a different brand this year because I had a groupon so I'll report back.

I think I'm going to track down the Ziplock boxes, I know my kids can handle those lids and I bet they will fit inside a standard insulated lunch box with a handle (DS likes the handle because the kids are made to use sanitizer gel before going to the lunchroom...a handle he can stick his arm through makes this process much easier.)

Late to the conversation but we just bought DS1 (almost 2.5) a PlanetBox to take to preschool. It's not here yet but I've heard good things.

I just stocked up on the Sistema cubes (got them at bed bath beyond). These are easy to clean (dishwasher) and easy for the kids to use. I tried lots of bento boxes last year and observed the very pricey stainless steel ones (the preK required reusable so there were lots of styles represented). I still prefer ours--- they are $5 each at bed bath and beyond.

Costco sells mini hummus cups. Sabra is the brand, i believe. They are awesome, but produce a lot of waste!
