  • Kitchen cabinet hardware

My dad is coming next weekend for a visit. (Sigh....)
I figure I might as well get something out of his visit while he's here. He's agreed to install the hardware I've always wanted on our cabinets and drawers. If I wait for dh to do it, it'll never get done. My dad is *really* good at this type of thing. Anyhow...we have a center hall colonial. Nothing fancy...very country-ish. Hardwood floors, terra-cotta color tile in the kitchen. Cherry cabinets. Stainless appliances. I've been looking on line and I don't know what to do. Knobs for the drawers? Handles for the cabinets? Knobs for cabinets? Handles for drawers. Also, I'd love to put a couple ceramic hand painted knobs on that I can get locally from the pottery store. I like a little eclectic. Thoughts?
I have two cabinets that are different. One is pantry height with pull out shelves. And one is a corner cabinet that has a lazysusan in it.
    Thanks!

I wouldn't do more than 2 different kind, it'll look busy and confusing. I personally like a steamlined look of all the pulls/handles being the same (if needed change from vertical to horizontal). If you have stainless steel appliances, I would probably go for brushed nickel hardware. What kind of lighting do you have in the kitchen? Is there any hardware on windows/doors nearby?

      Thanks, J.
I got thinking about the ceramic knobs..and you're right. Too much. And our kitchen, IMO, isn't country enough to pull off that look.
Brushed nickel is what I've been looking at. Our lighting is recessed and the only door in the kitchen has an almost dark brass color handle.

Have you considered blacksmithed pulls? I only ask because my dad does blacksmithing as a hobbie and some of the things he and his friends make amaze me. Etsy usually has a great selection of blacksmithed products to choose from. Might go well with the country feel.

        Just a thought.
