Omg, does anyone have playdoh in the house?! EVERY TIME I get rid of ours, someone gives them more!! Not only do they mix it all together (seriously, that hurts my soul) but the little bits get everywhere. Can't stand it.

We have minimal craft stuff, ie it has to be recyclable. And it gets recycled shortly after completion. (now I feel guilty)

DS11 has a crap ton of drawing stuff, but DD is limited to scratch paper and colored pencils. They are the easiest to remove from my Formica cabinets. (Contain your envy)

        DeCluttering and Cleaning up

DD1 plays with playdoh in her booster seat only. She gets 2 colors to play with until they are gross. The playdoh crumbs mingle with her rice crumbs and get swept away Thankfully, she is pretty tame as far as coloring, but is totally not using markers anytime soon! (I had a friend whose kid sucked a marker dry while she made dinner :thud: )

We have playdoh, markers, and crayons. Zoe loves making things. I have an entire kitchen cabinet dedicated to her craft stuff.

I still have several cabinets of craft stuff and the kids are in their teens. Obviously, I've just decided to go with cluttered and messy as my "look". LOL It's a lot easier when you just embrace it. My house was uncluttered and clean when I didn't have kids. Well, cleaner. DH and I are DIY remodelers and tinkerers so we've always got some "invention" cooking in some corner of the house - but the public areas were neat.

I think it will be neat and organized again when I've got fewer people in the house to control. Despite being a control freak personally, I'm really not good at controlling my minions. I figure I'll embrace the advantages and just accept the downside.

My neat and cleaned up living room?
I woke up this morning to discover my boys had moved a sofa in front of the tv and had played video games while we slept. Carpet and sofa moved, blankets on sofa, headphones to tv out, basket with games and controllers open with contents spread out, half-chewed rawhide bone on carpet, cups on the mantle, axe body spray on table (huh?) .... It never ends. I'll force them to clean up ... but ... sigh.

Perhaps they should also lose their ability to use those items for a short time if they can't take enough care to put them away when they're done?

Yes, this - I know our kids are much younger but we have a shelf where they can't reach things and things are often placed there and have to be earned back!

Omg, MIL just brought a huge box of that crap for DD. It was really hard to control my reaction, she totally doesn't get why I was so pissed off. Double bonus - I can totally see neon baby poop in my future.
