  • Tipping ?

We're re-doing our yard (front and back). We've had concrete ripped out, irrigation system put in, new plants, etc. etc. The company we've hired has about 3-4 different guys on any given day. The woman who runs the company comes out in the morning and again later in the day to check the work. they've been here for over 2 weeks now. They're meticulous and pay attention to detail. Yes, it's taken a long time, but we're super happy with how they work. I fill a cooler every day with water and lay out snacks for them.

They are very grateful for this, and have started bringing ME food. Crazy. If they happen see me come home with both kids, they come to the car and help me unload groceries. They take out our garbage on garbage day, bring it back in, and so on. In other words, they are very mindful of the fact that we live here.

They'll probably finish up next week. Should I tip them? The thing is that there are about 7 guys and on any given day, like I said, there are 3-4 of those 7 in varying constellations.

Or should I just keep giving them food? What do you do?

Food/drinks is ALWAYS good. Tipping would probably be weird in this instance.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Wasn't sure though. Thanks!

From their thoughtful response to your thoughtful hospitality-- I don't think tipping is what's needed here. They are doing a job and they are probably thrilled to have a nice homeowner to work with vs someone yelling at them about where stuff needs to be planted and what not.

Snacks, water, and basic respect for the work they are doing! Perfect!
