  • Help me rearrange my living room

I want to give E a dedicated play area in the living room, and I got started with this corner, but I thought I'd see if you had any better suggestions. I took pictures of the room from each corner. Behind the folding doors is a wet bar. Ideally I'd move the white entertainment cabinet to the other side of the fireplace and give her that corner, where there is more room, but we have to rewire all of our TV and components, plus Uverse, and I don't see that happening. It's also the first thing you'd see walking in the front door, which wouldn't be ideal.

I actually like it where you have it. It's unobtrusive and right under a nice, bright window. Also, I kind of like that she is sort of boxed into the living room a bit.

I also don't see where else it would work all that well (unless you moved all of the electronics, which honestly I'm not sure would be better).

Incidentally, I think your house is looking good! It's come a long way since the pre-move in pics I remember!

Thanks! I can't really think of a better way to do it either, but I figured I'd ask. In a really ideal world, the wall with the mirror would come down (between the living room and dining/office), along with the wall between the dining/office and kitchen, and I'd have a nice open floor plan so I could watch her play while I work in the kitchen, but that's definitely not going to happen! I think it looks a little bit silly right now with an end table on only one side of the couch, but if I put one on the other side, then it takes away play room from her and adds one more thing she can bump her head on. I know the kid stuff is taking over a bit, but she absolutely LOVES the activity garden!

We also need to get a new rug that matches the style of the recliners better, and eventually get a bit more decor. And organize some more, ha!
