Would I be making a mistake?

Hmmm... If I was tempted to do it, I would make sure that I purchased it at a reasonable price knowing that I'd have to change it in a few years. I specifically bought a bed in a bag set under $100 because of this exact reason.

Yes. It would be a mistake.

We had beautiful white duvet covers that were ruined. DH actually sat on the bed with an exploded ink pen in his pocket.

Why go white? Ugh. That's like having white carpet.

We have all white bedding, and I love it. I won't let the dog sleep in bed with us anymore, but the kiddos haven't been a problem. Just make sure you get bedding that's easy to wash.

This is magical, but you'd need to be able to fit your comforter into your washing machine. Honestly, my biggest problem isn't my kids, it's the heavy menstrual cycles with middle age. Kids can't bring drinks or food into your bedroom. It's one of the few rules we've been able to enforce.

I would have the same concern as Ladybug, honestly. That and sweat staining/discoloration. I love the look, though.

Just put on white bedding, but it's a duvet cover we can wash. We haven't had a huge issue with staining a comforter ever. We must just be messy in other rooms.

I say get what you want and enjoy it, you're living not maintaining your bed for a House Beautiful shoot. If you all hang out in the master then just make sure you won't be spending more time trying to keep the white bedding clean than you are enjoying everyone's company. There are many years to have pristine sheets, only a few where everyone is hanging with mom and dad.

We have a solid white duvet cover and 5 animals -- it's seen its fair share of muddy paws, cat vomit, etc and held up quite well, mainly because if all else fails I can just bleach it and throw any manner of cleaning concoction on it without worrying about color running.

Same: instead of bleach, I launder and hang in the sun. You'd be surprised what UV Rays can get out that bleach seems to miss.
