My parents did custom cabinetry that narrowed toward the door, with cabinet above and drawers below. They really needed storage in their bathroom, though (no linen closet nearby, etc.). Pics in case they're helpful:

Also, since you mentioned subway tile and hex tile, I thought of you when I read this article: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/the-...he-look-219829

Thanks for your insight Peggy! It's really helpful. Thank you for the pics Auspicious. It makes sense. We need more storage too. We have a hall closet but it's not big enough to hold linens and bathroom supplies.

I started a Pinterest page for all my bathroom ideas. The more I look the more concrete ideas are forming. It's:

We've had great luck with home advisor for getting work done in our house. We get several quotes for free and decide based on price and reviews. It's like Angies list but free!

Is it cool/warm enough for you to not run the AC/Heat? Even though they try to contain the mess, a fine white dust from sheetrock or tile ends up everywhere unless you shut the vents and minimize the spread.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I hadn't thought about that. Thanks Medpedspouse. It hasn't been running very much. It's been 40s to mid 70's. I'll shut off the vent in the bathroom and I was going to put a towel under the door. I may leave it off all together (we have duel systems) until they are done for the day. When working I'm going to shut the other doors and put towels in front of them.

So far in the excitement of demo we found the light in the shower/tub area wasn't connected to a box and wasn't water rated. Good thing it was on the ceiling the the shower has awful low water pressure. There are also several layers of floor under the main floor. Not too much scary stuff . . . . . yet.

It's slowly coming along. The floor was an extra week and we had to wait an extra week for the electrical. It's looking like it will be done in about three more weeks. The tile guy starts Tuesday then by Friday we are hoping the countertop people will be out to make the template. Feels like it's taking forever!

It looks great! I love the tile walls and the medicine cabinets.
