So we have had a TON of rain the last few days. I went over to the house to make sure the basement was dry and thankfully it was, but I noticed this in the garage



It's a slow small drip from whatever that round connector thing is. We had the sewer lines hydro jetted after inspection and were assured that everything was fine. But is this something I need to get a plumber out ASAP for? I know the city had some issues with drainage its sewer lines yesterday because I saw crews out cleaning things out in storm drains etc.

I'm really not in the mood to deal with this crap (literally I guess... Gross).

Oh - and I forgot. Actually the last 10 feet of pipe going out to the street was replaced too. The rest of the pipe was totally new. We watched the DVD of the scope after the repairs were done and everything was totally clean. So is it maybe just that cap isn't tight enough?

Grrrr.

Did you get a home warranty? If not, I believe you can purchase one yourself. It makes me feel better having one with a new (to me) house, so you know that most things will only cost the deductible.

We did! I just don't know if this something that I need to worry about right now or whether it will just stop once the absurd amount of rain stops. So you think I should call?

I would call. For the $65-75 service fee, it would give me peace of mind. Also, if it is really nothing, you want to know how to keep that area dry.

Read your contract first...don't waste the deductible for them to come out and tell you it isn't covered. They will push back in the first few weeks of someone moving in and say it was pre-existing

I'm going to hold off on calling until next week. It was dry when I checked this morning, and I have too much to do packing wise to spend a day waiting for the plumber. Although it is STILL raining, so if I go back and see it again I may change my plan.

I had american Home Shield and Old Republic. Neither have done this. I thought the reason why you do get the insurance is to cover any issues in the house preexisting or not. All mine this past year have been pre existing...plumbing not up to code and a pool pump that needed to have been replaced a decade ago.

Mine had a clause excluding "pre-existing" problems. Home Warranty of America. They suck. But not everything is covered in them anyway...definitely read your contract in detail. Plumbing is going to be iffy.

If you've had a lot of rain lately, the water table may just be really high. It could be hydrostatic water pressure pushing it through an unsealed area.
