I think they're what we call "Sprickets" or spider-crickets. They look like spiders at first glance, but then they leap high and at your face. Awful, evil creatures.
I'm not particularly squeamish about bugs, but anything that comes near my face is a big hell no.

Wow. I would not be happy with that response. How about he does his laundry down there while you use his unit at his house which I bet is not crawling with creepy bugs. Ewww. So not cool.
Wife to Hand Surgeon just out of training, mom to two lovely kittys and little boy, O, born in Sept 08.
He sort of headed me off at the pass because he said one had never jumped on him. He also used to live in this unit, so I assume he used the basement w/d system, too. :/ I may ask some of the other tenants if they've had any problems with the bugs.

He should have at least told you about it when you looked at the unit. Sucks.
