  • Air fresheners

I've been noticing lately that between various food and cooking smells, pet smells and just old house smells, my home sometimes has that…not-so-fresh feeling. Normally I kind of avoid perfumes, and I like my home best when it's just plain clean, not really fragranced. But let's face it, during gardening season, my vacuuming frequency starts to suffer, and anyway sometimes it's just nice to catch a whiff of something pretty when you walk in the house.

So I'm just curious. How do you scent your home? Febreze? Candles? Incense? Potpourri? EO diffuser? Any favorite brands you swear by? I have a wax burner and a few candles, but no scents I really love, especially not for summer.

I have soap all over my house...

I can't handle perfumes, they cause airway restrictions for me.

    I prefer EO's.

Some great, clean smelling blends that are my most popular are:

    50:50 Rosemary and spearmint
    2:3 lemongrass:lavender
    1:1 lavender:spearmint

Hubby keeps coming home with these Renuzit air fresheners or something, and I think they're super tacky. I make him hide them places if he insists on using them. I prefer fresher smells, so sometimes I'll buy the Good Air Yankee Candle plugins, but they never last long, and they're sort of expensive, so I don't keep up with them.

Mmm, I don't think I have either rosemary or spearmint. I need new EOs! I do like lemongrass and lavender together. If not in soap, how do you disperse them? I have mixed them with baking soda to make a carpet powder, or with 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water to make an air and fabric spray.

I keep a Febreze freshener in the laundry room near the cat box. I feel like it doesn't do much for long. What scents do you like in the plugins?

The Good Air is a deodorizing scent. Just clean smelling. We have a Febreze sticky in the trash can too.

I would try one of those wooden stick dispersal things.

The red ones are great. You can usually find them cheap at TJ Maxx or Marshall's or on sale at Pier One.

I am an EO freak. I want my dog hair, DH's journals and work crap everywhere, muddy floors house to smell like a SPA! I swear I can deal with the mess but my house has to semll clean. I use eucalyptus and spearmint...sometimes I am in the orange mood. I have one of those diffuser thingies that I got at TJMaxx. I also add oils to wax and melt it in a glass container over one of those cup holder warmer thingies you can buy for 5 bucks. Oh - and I mix oils with water in a spray bottle and use it on the top offenders like the dog beds or curtains. DoTerra and living oils or whatever the name is of other oil company can kiss my a$$. You can use EO's to make your house smell great for cheap.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Yep, the expense of the MLM oil retailers always blows my mind. My fave source is Mountain Rose Herbs, but the ones from Frontier/Auracacia that you can often find in grocery stores, are just fine too. I love coming up with new "recipes".

I have a wax warmer but I've been using the same (artificial scented) melts in it for years. Where do you get your wax?

So many votes for TJMaxx diffusers! Too bad I don't have a TJMaxx within 40 miles of me, LOL. I do have a couple of reed diffusers I got from a local lavender producer. I should refill those.

I used to have a cheap ceramic candle powered diffuser. I'd put water and a few drops of lavender in it and light the tea candle beneath.

I like the idea of eucalyptus. Reminds me of a spa...😍

Another blend that is really nice...

                              2 parts peppermint
                              1 part eucalyptus
                              1 part tea tree
