Dh is on call. My sister is hosting for us, my parents, and then her husband's extended family. So about 17 of us. I signed up to bring the pita and hummus because I didn't feel like trying to cook this year.

What time do your families usually eat on Thanksgiving? We've eaten at 4pm the past couple years to accommodate for the boys' afternoon naps (12:30-3), but I'm thinking about skipping naps this year and eating closer to 1pm.

That's actually tricky. In my family the meal was always coordinated around the football. Mom would start the bird, we'd go out ice skating on a local pond, then we'd go back and watch the game until it was time to eat. But…we don't have cable here! So the football fans are catching updates on their phones and we're mostly plannng the meal around travel times. People are coming in from 2-3 hours away and driving the morning of. And everyone's staying the night. So they'll be here late morning, and I think serving at about 5pm will work for us to digest and hang out before people go to their respective accommodations.

Growing up we always ate around 1pm. DHs family eats closer to 6 pm. I prefer the earlier time so once clean up is done we can hang out and relax.
