Not what I would have chosen as a 'safe place', but okay ...

there are 2 eggs, and one baby, already hatched.

I guess we won't be grilling for awhile.

oh my gosh - how funny! Its a good thing you could see the hay, I sometimes turn my grill on without opening it, can you imagine!

How did they get in there to make the nest?! How did they get the lid open, or is there a gap wide enough for them to get in?

        That is so picture-worthy!!!!

That's hysterical--those obviously aren't the smartest birds on the planet! So, should I be leery if you invite us over for some roasted poultry of some kind?

Too funny! Those birds probably thought they had hit the jackpot when they found the biggest birdhouse in the area.

there's a vent / hole on either side, which I'm sure is how they got in. clearly we didn't grill at all while dh was away -- and possibly not in the 4 days he was home after we returned from AK. the good news (for the birds) is that the ignitor is broken, so they're pretty safe.

yeah - mama bird must have thought she was super-smart, b/c it gets REALLY windy here.

Too cute!!! Two years age we had not a bird's nest but a wasp nest in our grill. I am always careful now the first time I open the grill.
