  • It never hurts to ask

When we bought our house, we inherited the termite protection plan, which I'd been paying faithfully each year, and each year the inspector comes, says "no termites" and goes home. And each year they hike my rates by about 25%. So this year I showed the inspector something suspicous, he said they'd check it out, they never did, and I finally got sick of the whole thing and decided to stop paying.
So they called me from terminix, and wanted me to renew. I told them why I wasn't, and she said she's hold my premiums at last year's rate, and never increase again. And then she told me she'd send the manager out to check my house. And then I asked her to go back to the previous year's rates, and she said "OK we can do that" and they'll hold it at that rate.
Goes to show how much these companies are making off of most of us who just pay our bills without questioning.

Yep, we are having a lawn service (fertilizer) for the first time this year and the first application was supposed to kill all the weeds - it didn't. So I called and told them I wasn't happy with it, they came out and reapplied. Now the yard looks great. Remember, the customer is always right!
