Carpet Stain

Who has a product that *really* gets out carpet stains?

I have an unidentifiable 8 inch stain in the middle of my carpet which has darkened the area slightly.

Help?

I've had good luck with the OXY carpet cleaning stuff with the notable exception of when I tried to use it on areas that had been treated with another carpet cleaner. then- it all just turned darker and more horrible.

I've tried SO many and really haven't found anything OTC that really, really works. Since you're preparing to sell (I know, in awhile), you may just want to bite the bullet and have someone come in to clean it.

My smarta$$ answer is putting a small piece of furniture over the stain.

Otherwise, I agree with Jenn. I'm sure this would be at the top of your list of fun things to do, but you could try renting a carpet cleaner/steam cleaner machine. We did our basement carpet ourselves before selling and it really cleaned up well. Spots that hadn't come out with Resolve lightened and looked better.
