  • My new tree!

I realize that this is an extremely dorky thing to be so excited about.

I had a grapefruit that started rotting on one side. I broke it open to salvage the good half and spotted a sprouting seed inside!! I planted the seed in shallow dirt and figured it wouldn't last. The seedling leaves have now opened. It is beautiful. My new baby grapefruit sprout is growing!! Neat.

Thanks for humoring me and my new tree enthusiasm.

mmmm....I LOVE grapefruit! Im happy that your baby tree has managed to get a wee bit bigger. Hopefully it survives the fall and winter.

on a side note...my dad lives in Florida and when ever I would visit him...every morning I would go out to his huge beautiful grapefruit tree and have one for breakast! So yummy!!

    Good luck with your tree.

that's super-cool, but are you in MA for real? It will have to be an indoor plant for sure if you are!

My DH planted one in a pot when he was a kid. He grew up in the Northeast so it was an indoor plant. Now the thing is taller than he is! His parents have a greenhouse room attached to the back of the house so it gets plenty of light. (i don't think it ever gave good fruit though - just leaves.) I think your tree has a chance. Grow, baby, grow!
