Garbage Cans

Can anyone tell me why garbage cans are so expensive? For the past year we've had a tall cylindrical can w/lid in the kitchen. It's been fine, but in the past few weeks, the dog has figured out that he can remove the lid and get the top contents out. We've tried spraying bitter apple on the can, which works as long as we re-apply regularly, but it's not really practical. After reccomendations from a couple of friends, I bought this which cost $88! And it was the cheapest one there! I'd honestly prefer a trash compactor, or a pull-out trash / recycling thing in the cabinets ... but that's not how this place is laid out.

I don't know why I'm whining ... it just irks me to spend $100 on a TRASH CAN!
