  • My recent craft endeavor

Just had to post - I'm so proud of myself for figuring out my sewing machine without my mom standing over me. (Picture the SNL skit with Jimmy Fallon as the company's IT guy - that's my mom with the sewing machine: MOOOVE!)

Hopefully, the pic works - they are "baby-friendly" ornaments. I figure it's a futile effort to try to keep DD away from the tree, so I've opted to baby-proof it as best I can.

Those are super cute, I was just thinking about that the other day. I think some of my ornaments will have to stay in the box this year.

I love the baby friendly ornaments. The boys have already broken about four ornaments so far.

Thanks everyone! I got the fabric at walmart - in a little sample set. I'm excited to make some more!

Did you use patterns or did you just free hand the shapes?

I found patterns on the Internet or just outlines of shapes. But I also have some holiday cookie cutters, which I might use next time, and just trace the shape onto paper or something. I might have to enlarge them though to allow room for the stitching.

You know you could sell those, right? How CUTE!

We have a bunch of those plastic embroidery ornaments that my grandmother made. Those are the kid/dog/kitten proof ornaments.

Exactly what I was thinking. They're beautiful, even for someone without kids.
