I love the hat! You really are talented (and of course S is adorable modeling it), and I'm serious about commissioning you.
I think Mr. Bean would really take to that kind of hat... as he practices shaolin-style Kung Fu. My DH would totally think it's adorable too.
Let me know: I'll PM you later.
I'd rather buy it from someone I know and give them my business than a huge chain of retailers.Wife to Family Medicine attending, Mom to DS1 and DS2

Thanks everyone. I had so much fun making it! This was the pattern that I used as my base. I modified it to fit a toddler's head and added the spikes. Last night I contact the publisher and asked permission to publish my modifications as a free pattern and it was granted as long as I reference the original pattern. I am excited to write it up after the holidays.
@Spotty Dog - I would love to be able to charge 50 bucks, but around here people would be outraged to pay $15. Sad how handmade items are perceived as having less value than something machine produced.Kris

I really like how the short-row earflaps lie and the way the brim is doubled with the lining. I will definitely look for your write-up of how you resized and added the spikes, I bet my son would love that hat (and he's outgrowing his fleece one so fast!)
It's totally, TOTALLY worth $50. If you want to take less as a favor to a friend, then that is awesome and generous of you, but please don't let random people "around there" tell you that you should charge less than the Walmart version because yours is homemade and worth less -- yours is HAND CRAFTED (exquisitely so!) and worth so much more!Alison
