  • 10 lbs. by (US) Thanksgiving

I'm two weeks out from delivering little Rebekah, and I have 27 lbs. to lose! *sigh*

We're traveling to DH's parents' house for Thanksgiving, and I'm really worried I won't have enough clothes that fit me for the whole trip (except obvious maternity-looking clothes). I figure if I can drop 10 lbs. by Nov. 28, I may be able to fit into my larger shirts & jeans.

    Ugh. Wish me luck! :exercise:

BTW - the game plan is to use the treadmill 3+ times per week. (The other days I'm usually out shopping or at appts, and I'm not sure I should do anything more aggressive at 2-5 weeks post c-section.) Also, I've made a diet plan, including 8 glasses of water a day.

WOW - you are ambitious woman! 2 weeks pp and already with an exercise routine....wow!

Just be careful you don't put too much pressure on yourself too soon.

    Keep us posted!

I am impressed! I keep figuring I just shouldn't gain another 10 lbs by Thanksgiving!

Just be kind to yourself. You have a full plate, so to speak.

Well good luck I guess but don't go too crazy yet! Especially if you are nursing. And chasing twins as well?!? You will wear yourself out.
Seriously, it is early days. I think it is still acceptable to be in pregnancy clothes at this stage!

Every person is different but every time I would push it too hard soon after my c-sections I would pay for it the next day. Whether it was incision pain or bleeding. For me, working out without next day "consequences" didn't happen until 6-12 weeks after my c-sections. FWIW, I am 5 months out and I still have 22 lbs to lose. I have lost 28. Good luck with the weight loss. I am so not motivated. The 60lbs that I gained came off both times with my previous kids, I am sure that I will lose the 50 that I gained with this one.

Thanks, everyone... I promise to be careful. I'm not even up to running on the treadmill yet - just walking a half hour a day so far.

I was down a pound yesterday but back up again this morning. But I also drank a lot more water yesterday, so I can't feel bad about being more hydrated.

I went shopping a couple days ago and found a shirt and a sweater that hide my belly a little better. DH agreed that I don't look pregnant in those clothes - just chubby! For the record, he is completely unconcerned about the extra weight. He thinks it will all be gone within six months, and that even within six weeks I'll look thinner as the uterus involutes.

With the holidays coming up, it's just hard to be patient.

I am gaining instead of losing. I'm up three pounds since Wednesday morning. How does this happen?? I was losing a half pound a day in the two weeks after delivery, which I know is too fast to maintain. But I've cut way back on my calories at this point, and I'm gaining.

Ten pounds in three weeks shouldn't be that much to expect, especially postpartum, right?

This morning I was down 2 lbs from my starting weight! I've sort of been hovering around 1 lb below the starting weight, so it feels good to hit the 2 lb mark today. I'm not at all sure I can lose 8 more lbs in the next 18 days, but... maybe 5 lbs?

I haven't worked up to running yet. Today I plan to run for 5 of my 30 mins on the treadmill and see how it feels.

Re: 10 lbs. by (US) Thanksgiving

                    The bad news:
                    - This goal was way too ambitious. I'm not going to reach it by Thanksgiving.
                    - DH took me & my parents out to eat this week to thank them for their help after Rebekah's delivery. I ate cheesecake - SO good! But I was up 2.5 lbs the next morning (from the previous morning).
                    - I ran for 5 min. on Monday, and it hurt too much to do it again. I've just been walking this week.

                    The good news:
                    - This morning I was the lowest I've been, putting me below one of my (psychological) mile markers.
                    - I won't be cooking for my mom, as I've been doing the past three weeks, so I can monitor my diet a little better.
                    - I feel good enough to try running again this morning.

A week and a half to go before Thanksgiving! I've lost about 5 lbs. so far. But my belly is shrinking much faster than the weight loss would suggest. I can wear some of my biggest non-maternity clothes now!

My baby sister is getting married in June, and I have a little over 20 lbs. to lose before then, to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I'll probably set a "by Christmas" goal to break it up a bit.

I dreamed last night about long-distance running. It felt GREAT, like flying. Before I got pregnant with the twins, I was doing some running & loving it.

When I told DH about my dream, he got all excited about the possibility of us running marathons together. I didn't have the heart to remind him that right now I'm hard-pressed to run for 5 of my 30 min. on the treadmill - and that's on my good days! I know it'll get a lot better, though. Exercising is the one thing I consistently look forward to every day.

Thanks for the encouragement! I ran 15 of my 30 minutes today! My shins were hurting at the end, though.
