  • Wanted: Accountability Buddy

Next week I’m going to start training for a half-marathon and could use some motivation. I’m new to running, so this may be too lofty of a goal but I figure it’s worth a shot. Plus, I’m hoping the training will scare off the 10 vanity pounds that I’ve been haphazardly trying to lose. Any fellow running newbies want to join me/kick me in the ass as needed?

Edit: Apparently I’m an idiot – I didn’t even see that there was a separate sub-forum for buddies, duh.

My husband and I did a 1/2 marathon last October. Before we started training, running a mile was a stretch for me, but by the end I did all 13.1 miles. We are talking about doing a full marathon now. We had a book by Hal Higdon and followed one of his training programs. I think he also has training programs online. I really liked having a schedule to follow and it included days of rest. You build up gradually and just take it one run at a time. Good luck!
