  • Figuring out a stall

So over the holidays I only gained about 3-4 pounds. I say only like that is good ... But considering how much I ate and ... drank LOL , I considered it almost a miracle. Even more amazing to me is that I shed the 3-4 pounds effortlessly even allowing myself a few slips.

So now I'm back to recording everything I eat and exercising for 1 hour daily. And. Nothing!!! For the last couple of weeks I seem to be gaining and losing the same 1 pound. :/.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm underestimating calories or what. I don't think so.

Can someone talk me through this to help me maintain my patience with this? It's so frustrating.

    Kris

Hang in there - it'll pass, I promise! I would take a close look at what you have been eating, I doubt you've been underestimating calories, more likely that your body has gotten used to your routine. This might be the time to shake it up somehow - whether with what you eat or with your activity level (or type of activity). Make sure you do it systematically though - and record that! Consider recording your water intake and amount of sleep, when I started doing that I found a correlation between stalling and not drinking or sleeping enough. No matter what route you go - even if you make no changes, this plateau will pass, just hang in there.

keep up the great work!! you are an inspiration!

whenever I get in a rut changing up the workout always helps me. different exercise video, walk backwards on the treadmil, frisbee with the kids, err, when it is warmer outside. you get the point. You'll get there! go get em!

same thing has happened with me! I only gained 3-4 pounds over the holidays, but now I can't seem to get off the last 5 pounds of baby weight. Keep the advice coming!!

No personal experience (as you have to steadily lose first to "stall" ) but the diet book I've been using said the same thing as Cassy -- up your calories for a few days and see if that doesn't zap up your metabolism again. Seems the theory goes that if you cut down too far your body will "panic" in to great efficiency -- and panic even more if you cut back further.

and definitely try to change up the routine, too. Your body isn't being challenged by that hour anymore. Try walking intervals of fast, slow, faster, etc. It's the same theory as the eating more then less- you have to change it up. It also sounds like it's time to add some light weight-training to the mix or add some yoga to the routine.

Well, I did mix it up a little, but it was unintentional. I decided to up my calories and then...spent more than 24 hours barely able to drink water (yay Flu?) As a result I did no exercise...and...I lost 3 pounds. LOL All water weight, I'm sure.

I think it is time to evaluate my caloric intake and the exercise. I seem to get hooked on doing one type of activity and it become comfortable to me. Once I'm back to 100%, I'm changing it up for sure.

Stay tuned for the hilarious videos of me doing the exercise videos that my kids post on youtube! LOL

I'd pray for a few more flu bugs but ... I think I'll pass and do it the old fashioned way. LOL

Weird! I upped my water intake (like ya'll suggested) and 3 pounds also fell off in a couple days. That really did the trick! Just four more pounds to pre baby weight!!!!

Gosh - I wish I were there. I still have a long way to go and Sophie will be a year on Saturday! I am convinced it is nursing that does me in. Since I have really started exercising, I can tell that I am more toned underneath my fluff. Now, I just need to get rid of the fluff.
