I found out about one today (http://urbanacres.wordpress.com/) and joined--$30 for a half bin of organic produce seems like a good deal to me. Anyone else ever joined one?

We've been part of one for the last 2 years. It's $350 for a half share and runs from June - October with a pick up each week. It's really great to have locally grown veggies and fruits and forces us to get creative with our cooking. I am learning to love the new beet dishes we have createdDanielle

We have - we just started this spring. We pay $15 per week and it included delivery. We scaled back to every other week because we could not eat everything before the next delivery. So far we have had all kinds of leafy/root veggies...can't wait for the summer ones. Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

we didn't buy in this year, but probably will next. I go once a week. The stawberries are delish...last night we had raspberries...and dh's partner bought bread...O. M. G.
Oh, and when you buy in for the summer season, needy families get food, too. I love it there and I love that my kids get excited about it too. Next year, depending on how our garden grows we'll only go for fruit.~shacked up with an ob/gyn~

A full share in ours is $24/week and a half is $12/week. I also love that needy families can use food stamps and get reduced prices. It's AMAZING to get all this produce and it definitely forces us out of our food comfort zone.Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)

I should also add that since we started also getting our milk delivered from a local farm, I haven't been to the supermarket in 2.5 weeks. When we do our veggie pick up, we also try to buy some of the local meat they sell too. I can't tell you how happy I am to avoid the supermarket!!Danielle

We joined one last year. I loved it, the one thing that I wasn't a fan of was sometimes we got veggies that myself nor my SO knew what to do with (Swiss Chard???). I would really appreciate it if co-ops provided recipes for beets, turnips--I love veggies but I usually stick to the basics. I would love to try stuff, but I also want to make sure I'm trying stuff that I know tastes good.
We were too late to sign up for this years, but we have a great Farm 2 Family bus that delivers, and they break the payments down for us. Very cost effective. Can't wait to sign up for the next one!
