  • Novemeber Weight Loss Encouragement

    Lets keep this going!

I had to take a two week break due to a foot injury, but I got myself back on the treadmill today and found myself still at the same level I was at before I had to stop. So yay for no back tracking, AND I didn't gain any weight during the exercise pause, so go me! Now I just need to be able to finish the 5k program and lose 5 more pounds and I am set. Seems to be my magic number is 5. I think its going to be easier to finish the program than to lose the lbs, but I am determined.

    How is everyone else doing?

Ok. I'm in. I am struggling to keep any weight loss mojo going. I'm up and down. Time to get a downward trend.

I'm in. Mines coming off because I'm trying to keep myself too busy to eat. Russ has been enjoying a cleaner house!

I started trying to do sit-ups. OK super embarrassing confession. Last week I couldn't even do one sit-up w my arms/hands anywhere near my head and without using momentum to pull me up. I'm blaming the recent C-section, but I know it's the years of neglect since vet school. I can now do 5 with my hands in front of my head, but keeping them still! Wahoo! Getting just a little bit of ab strength back has really helped my self esteem w clothing and therefore my self control w regards to over eating.

I'm cheering from the sidelines! (If cut a single calorie, my milk supply drops drastically...so I'm sitting still, bummer) So..I am all your personal cheerleader! Go-go-go!! You're all doing great!

Just have to pipe in and say that sit ups are my least favorite work for the abs. There are so many other moves that isolate the abs without straining the back and neck AND you can add more resisitance slowly as you are able.

What do you recommend Kelly? I only started w sit-ups because I couldn't do it. I'm not good enough to get crunches to work....I find too many ways to cheat. I'm too weak to do my pregnancy pilates/yoga video. Also the video takes an hour to do. I don't have the uninterrupted time. I'd rather find things I can do in a minute or two and try to do them throughout the day.

What about one of those 15 min. abs videos? I'd recommend the p90x one, but it sort of makes me feel like I'm going to throw up afterwards... It is only 12 minutes, though

I'm a big fan of Tamilee Webb's "I want that body" ($9.98 at Amazon). I may bitch and moan while I do the workout, but each video is only 15 minutes long and I feel really proud of myself afterwards. The only problem is getting started.

To be a total pain... I'd rather not a video because I have the DVD player locked up in the cabinet bc of the kids. I have the netflix for wii, but I'm less likely to take the time to flip the tv over to the wii, turn it on, wait for it to load, look for the video.... I just need a few exercises I can do randomly. I'm thinking of adding squats and lunges.

Well, she really only does a handful of exercises that you could easily memorize. I love that about her videos because I'm terribly uncoordinated and complicated routines have never worked for me. I still like to watch the videos to maintain some kind of tempo, but I probably don't need to.

Michelle, how about crunches? Do them forward and side to side (when you crunch aim for your knee). Also try keeping your legs straight up in the air and doing crunches. That is a workout! You can also do crunches standing up, but it's kind of hard to explain. Sit ups suck.

ETA Ok, I see you've tried crunches, but try them again. They are much better than sit ups.

I'm still chugging along. Working our everyday and not eating sugar, pasta, etc.

Oh.My.Goodness. I have found my dream diet! I can do that!

ITA with exercises on the go. When I do allow myself to veg and watch the million Oprah episodes I have on DVR, I do pilates. There is no excuse not to. Plank alone has changed my body. I will look up some more tolerable ab exercises. I'm just all for being gentle with the body and I think that situps strain the neck and don't do a lot for posture.
